“SMARTcup Academy 2026: the programme for aspiring Ligurian entrepreneurs kicks off”

Genova is increasingly establishing itself as Liguria’s leading hub for innovation, research and the creation of new high-tech businesses. Against this backdrop, SMARTcup Academy 2026 will run from 8 to 21 September, offering a free training programme for aspiring entrepreneurs in Liguria, promoted by Regione Liguria and managed by Filse as part of the 14th edition of SMARTcup Liguria.

The annual programme supports startup founders, researchers, students and innovators in developing their business ideas through webinars, workshops, mentoring sessions and opportunities to engage with industry professionals and experts. Its aim is to provide practical tools to assess the feasibility of projects, turning ideas and expertise into structured business models ready to enter the market.

The programme will officially launch on 8 September at Regione Liguria’s Sala Trasparenza, marking the start of an itinerant series of activities across all four Ligurian provinces, designed to showcase the region’s innovation ecosystem and encourage the creation of new entrepreneurial ventures.

Genova will also play a central role in the final stage of the initiative: on 19 October 2026, the BIC Business Incubator operated by Filse in Genova Campi will host the SMARTcup Liguria regional final, an annual event showcasing the most promising projects and innovative ideas developed across the region. It will also provide an opportunity to reinforce Genova  position as a strategic hub for startups, technology transfer and talent attraction. 

Participation in the Academy is not mandatory to enter the competition, but it represents a valuable opportunity to refine business projects with the support of qualified mentors and connect with a network of key players from Liguria’s innovation ecosystem.
