Genoa Airport: Traffic Growth and Collaboration with Costa Cruises

12/05/2025

In the first four months of 2025, Genoa Airport recorded an increase in passenger numbers, adding to the revenue growth achieved by the end of 2024, alongside a reduction in costs. From January to April 2025, 394,000 passengers passed through Genoa Airport, marking a 13.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. International traffic grew by 32.5%, while domestic traffic rose by 2.7%. Revenues are also on the rise. In 2024, the airport closed the fiscal year with 1.33 million passengers and total revenues of €30.1 million, achieving a net profit of €255,000—reversing the losses recorded in 2023.

Within this context of strengthening commercial offerings and modernizing airport infrastructure, a collaboration between Genoa Airport and Costa Cruises has been launched. Costa Cruises is inaugurating a season of charter flights dedicated to Dutch and German customers. The flights, operated by Corendon and Condor, will bring around 16,500 passengers to "Cristoforo Colombo" Airport. Corendon flights, operating every Friday from April 25 to June 27 and from September 5 to October 24, will enable boarding on the Costa Smeralda. Condor will operate weekly flights from Düsseldorf to Genoa until October 19, 2025, facilitating boarding on the Costa Toscana. Passengers will benefit from “inbound” services and “off-airport check-in,” allowing them to check in their luggage at the departure airport and find it directly in their cabin on the ship. Upon return, they can hand over their luggage on board and collect it at the arrival airport.

Significant investments are underway with the goal of redefining the image of Genoa Airport by 2026, attracting new capital and interest in an increasingly competitive hub.
