Genova, Capital of Welding: The 78th IIW International Conference starts

The 78th Annual Assembly and International Conference of the International Institute of Welding is currently taking place at the Magazzini del Cotone.

This is a unique event, held for the first time in conjunction with the National Welding Days, organized annually by a Genoese center of excellence, the Italian Institute of Welding.

It is the third time the event is hosted in Italy, but the very first time in Genoa. The conference brings together leading welding professionals from over 50 countries for a week filled with conferences, in-depth discussions, and exchanges on the state of the art in welding and related fields.

It represents a strategic opportunity to foster new international synergies, promote the exchange of cutting-edge know-how, and serve as an exceptional showcase for the city. Thanks to the dedication of local professionals, Genoa reaffirms its role as a vital hub of a modern, thriving industry that is globally competitive and attentive to contemporary challenges.

The opening ceremony took place on Sunday, June 22, with a rich evening at the Teatro Carlo Felice, featuring welcoming speeches and a masterful performance of works by Nicolò Paganini. The evening culminated in the presentation of prestigious international awards to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field.

The week’s program includes the Young Professional Event on the evening of June 24—a moment dedicated to highlighting emerging talent and demonstrating a strong commitment to supporting the next generation. Activities will conclude on Friday, June 27, following two days focused on the Italian landscape during the National Welding Days.

The Territorial Marketing Department of the Municipality of Genova is present at the event with a dedicated desk to promote the city’s vision, including real estate investment opportunities, projects, events, and the many possibilities Genoa offers both nationally and internationally. Engagement with local, national, and international companies is proving to be fruitful and of great interest.
