Genoa Airport: New car rental area and construction work until 2026

Renovation work continues inside Genoa's Cristoforo Colombo Airport, where, in mid - october 2025, the new car rental area was opened on the arrivals level. This completely new space of approximately 300 square meters is a modern waiting area that houses the desk of nine car rental companies as well as seats and flight information monitors. 

There will be more in the new year, infact, by the end of March 2026, new bar/restaurant points will be built on the departures level and in the boarding rooms, and a new VIP lounge will be opened only for departing passengers, also equipped with a panoramic terrace.

By the end of June 2026, the boarding rooms and the new check - in line at the departures hall will be completely renovated with 22 stations, including self - service stations.

Afterwards, as per the airport's press release. the international boarding rooms equipped with "e - gates" will be redeveloped to speed up boarding procedures. In 2026, the entire arrivals area will be redeveloped with the addition of bars and waiting areas, as well as the updating of the areas dedicated to incoming border controls, which also have e - gates.  

At the end of the modernization plan, the total surface area of Cristoforo Colombo Airport will reach 20,000 square meters: commercial areas will increase by 400 swuare meters, check - in will increase from 12 to 22, terminal - facing aircraft parking from 6 to 8 and the new lounge will extend over 200 square meters.
