Genoa meets South Korea
The meeting with the Council of the Korea Maritime Institute in Busan took place on the morning of December 10, 2025, at the Representative Office of the Mayor of Genoa, Silvia Salis.
Busan is South Korea's second most populous city, twinned with Genoa since last year, and is recognized as a major global maritime hub, with one of the largest and busiest ports in the world.
The Korea Maritime Institute is South Korea's leading maritime research hub seeking to contribute to national development and public welfare through research and development in the fields of oceans, fisheries, maritime affairs, ports, and logistics.
During the meeting, the administration expressed its willingness to foster relations between the research center and the University of Genoa.
It was then emphasized that the Grazia Deledda International Language High School is in the process of offering Korean language courses, an element that particularly struck the delegation. The latter, was composed of Kim Geun Sub (Vice President of the Korea Maritime Institute), Kim Eun Woo (Director of the Port Industry Research Division of the Institute), Lee da Ye (Senior Research Fellow of the Port Policy Research Division).
