MIPIM 2026, Genoa takes the stage in Cannes: urban regeneration, sports, and investments at the heart of the meetings.
The arrival of the Mayor of Genoa at MIPIM 2026—one of the world's leading international real estate events, running in Cannes until March 13—was highly anticipated and met with a very positive response. On March 11, a joint presentation by the Mayor and the Councilor for Commerce, Tourism, and Territorial Marketing took place during the panel "HEALTHY CITIES, HEALTHY ASSETS: THE FUTURE OF SPORTS VENUES IN GENOA" at the Italian Pavilion. During the session, they presented a forward-looking vision of a city open to dialogue with investors and private partners, aiming to develop regeneration and growth projects focused on neighborhood well-being, citizens' quality of life, and new urban development opportunities.
Later in the day, the Mayor also participated in the panel "Italy 2026: Cities as Platforms for Investment and Innovation," where she outlined tools and strategies to make Genoa increasingly attractive. Key among these is the Genoa Business Unit, a municipal department created to support and facilitate the journey for those wishing to invest in the area at local, national, and international levels. Significant focus was placed on urban regeneration projects, such as the creation of the "121" transformation district (encompassing the Picca Pietra Portoria and Pammattone neighborhoods), as well as infrastructure and sport-related development. This includes the redevelopment of the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, the future of the Carlini facility, the construction of the Sport Park on the city’s heights, and the "Sport Senior" project launched last autumn.
Within the Italian Pavilion, at the ICE – Italian Trade Agency stand, the Municipality of Genoa has a dedicated desk to showcase the city's strategy for urban development, regeneration, and investment attraction, all oriented toward quality of life, inclusion, and a sustainable future. In this space, B2B meetings yielded positive results, featuring several discussions on the city's future projects and prospects, confirming the growing international interest in Genoa. Among the entities met were prominent international real estate firms and consulting companies such as Tractus, Invel, FVC Development, TP Bennet, and Life Real Estate.
The discussions also touched upon student housing, which is considered a strategic priority to strengthen the city's status as a university hub and offer better opportunities for students who choose to study, work, and settle in Genoa.
Participation in MIPIM confirms the Municipality of Genoa's commitment to strengthening international relations and attracting new investments, continuing a path of urban development and regeneration focused on quality of life and city growth.
