Genoa measures the future: the first Sustainability Report begins

03/02/2026

On January 30, the Municipality of Genoa began work on drafting its first Sustainability Report, which will be published in spring 2026. It is a public and voluntary document, an advanced non-financial reporting tool designed to make not only businesses, but also citizens, participate in the results achieved by the Authority and the City in the three key dimensions: environmental, social and governance (ESG).

Deputy Mayor Alessandro Terrile expressed his opinion on this matter, stating: «We do not intend to limit ourselves to a mere list of investments, but aim to measure the real impact of our policies through ESG parameters. […] This first Sustainability Report represents an act of responsibility that projects Genoa among Europe's “beacon cities”, capable of managing the complexity of the transition with reliable data and rigorous analysis».

The document will not be a simple photograph of the existing, but a rigorous and transparent narrative, constructed according to the main international reference standards. The goal is to transform the data into an organic vision, providing a clear picture of how Genoa is evolving: measuring today to make our city more sustainable in the future.
