The Place Marketing Department of the Municipality of Genova on board the Costa Smeralda to take part in the “Top 500 Liguria” event, organised by PwC in cooperation with La Repubblica and the University of Genova, with the support of UniCredit. It was a prestigious occasion to discuss the Ligurian economy and the territory's prospects for sustainable development.

During the event, a positive economic trend emerged for more than four-fifths of Ligurian companies, with a turnover of seventy-five billion Euros for the top five hundred Ligurian companies. The leading sectors are confirmed to be the Blue Economy, innovation, food and pharmaceuticals.

The Mayor of Genova, Silvia Salis, emphasised the strategic role of the Municipality of Genova in supporting the development of enterprises, including small and medium-sized ones, and craft businesses, with adequate services and digitalisation for a more streamlined bureaucracy, making Genova a fertile ground for industrial settlements. Genova is also a pioneer in the use of artificial intelligence, used in the medical field but also to monitor the territory in terms of tourism, urban safety and transport.

The President of the Region Liguria, Marco Bucci, highlighted the importance of sustainable economic development, focusing on energy transition through the use of available renewable sources such as water and nuclear energy.

There are many economic challenges in the city, and Genova is set to be one of the most desirable destinations for realities that believe in the values of environmental sustainability and inclusiveness.
