Genova, a leader in critical infrastructure security
Genova is confirmed as a national point of reference for innovation in the security of critical infrastructures thanks to the “SOC OT PIG-E - Security Operation Centre Production Technology Energy Generation Plant” project, one of the winners of the Start 4.0 call for proposals, financed by PNRR through the Next Generation EU programme.
The initiative aims to strengthen the cybersecurity of industrial control (OT) systems in the energy sector, by providing for the development of an advanced monitoring platform for Operational Technologies, capable of monitoring cyber threats in real time and assessing their impact on production processes, integrating innovative technologies such as Machine Learning, digital twin and full visibility on all levels of the Purdue model.
The project represents a concrete example of collaborative innovation aimed at the digital resilience of Italian production systems, born and developed in Genova thanks to the synergy between public and private actors. Leading the initiative is HWG Sababa, in collaboration with Ansaldo Energia S.p.A., the Start 4.0 Competence Centre, the DITEN Department of the University of Genova, and the university spin-off Airfield Security.
This strategic alliance demonstrates how cooperation between industry, research and institutions can generate cutting-edge solutions for the protection of critical infrastructures, helping to make the Italian energy system safer, more resilient and sustainable.
