Genova Global Goals Award project at Talent Garden Genova
On 19 June, at Talent Garden Genova, the Urban Green Edition of the ‘Genova Global Goals Award’ project was presented, promoted by the Place Marketing Department of the Municipality of Genova. The aim is to enhance local realities committed to sustainability and innovation, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the European Union's Agenda 2030.
The choice of the Talent Garden as the venue for the event was not accidental: this space is a reference point for Genova's innovation ecosystem, fostering the contamination of ideas and best practices between companies, start-ups and professionals. An ideal context to launch a project that aims to promote a greener, more inclusive and resilient Genova.
The work was opened by the newly appointed Councillor for Place Marketing, Tiziana Beghin. The Councillor highlighted the importance of creating synergies between public and private entities for sustainable and shared economic development.
Afterwards, Dr. Gabriele Andreetta, Manager of the Place Marketing Department, presented the project in detail, detailing its purpose, participation methods and expected impact on the community.
Next, there were some testimonies of participation in the “Blue Edition” of the project, held last year, by Ottavia Pittaluga of Shopthelook s.r.l., Alessandra Fontanini of Rechiclo, and Andrea Morten and Despoina Kossyvaki of the Italian Institute of Technology. They recounted their experiences as participants, winners and special mentions, talking about how important the project is for ensuring a concrete contribution of local realities to the responsible development of the territory, promoting important local projects on environmental sustainability, and fostering synergies between local realities.
The Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce of Genova, Maurizio Caviglia, a member of the Blue Edition jury, also spoke about the challenge of selecting the winning projects as they all deserved recognition and how important it is to promote sustainable economic development in the city, enhancing the active role of businesses, schools and institutions in the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals of the European Union's Agenda 2030. Finally, he emphasised the central role of public-private collaboration.
The initiative aroused great interest among the participating local realities, many of which expressed their willingness to join and propose concrete initiatives in line with the project's objectives.
In a dynamic and stimulating environment such as the Talent Garden, the launch of the “Genova Global Goals Award” project represents an important step towards a more sustainable, responsible, innovative and future-oriented city.
