Genova resiliente

All the big cities of the Western world are facing the flowing back of the past wave of heavy industrialization from their territory. It is not just about the redevelopment and reuse of industrial areas, but also about recovering attention to the built rather than to new developments. Historic districts and peri-industrial suburbs often share a destiny of decline. The answer is the urban regeneration of areas and neighborhoods which, under public coordination, are not an end in themselves but are the fundamental step towards the rebirth of the entire city.

Nel 2013 l'Assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite ha designato il 31 ottobre come Giornata mondiale delle città. Da quel momento questo è il momento ideale per riflettere sulle nostre città e pensare al loro futuro. Negli ultimi mesi, a seguito della crisi di salute pubblica provocata dal COVID-19, la vita nelle nostre città è cambiata drasticamente. E tutti questi cambiamenti stanno trasformando la quotidianità dei cittadini in tutte le città del mondo come mai prima d'ora.

In 2013 the UN General Assembly designated the 31st of October as World Cities Day. From then on, this is the ideal moment to reflect on our cities and think about their future. In recent months, as a consequence of the public health crisis caused by COVID-19, life in our cities has changed drastically. And all these changes are transforming citizen’s day-to-day in all cities around the world like never before.

Relatori provenienti da diverse parti d'Europa, inclusi due sloveni, hanno convenuto che una buona cooperazione tra tutti, dai cittadini ai responsabili delle decisioni, è essenziale per affrontare adeguatamente il cambiamento climatico. Le comunità locali devono garantire una partecipazione effettiva della popolazione, degli attori pubblici e privati, la cooperazione tra settori e lo sviluppo di soluzioni adeguate a livello locale, mentre le attività ai livelli superiori, regionali, nazionali e internazionali, rimangono molto importanti.

Speakers from different parts of Europe, including two from Slovenia, agreed that good cooperation between everyone, from citizens to decision-makers, is essential to address climate change properly. 

We live in a complex and interconnected world: when a balance is shifted, even if only slightly, everything must somehow be rearranged. The coronavirus epidemic has clearly explained this concept to us by knocking on the door: we must find a way that leads to a form of balance between man and nature and to a trade-off of the needs of both.

Viviamo in un mondo complesso e interconnesso: quando un equilibrio viene spostato, anche se di poco, tutto si deve in qualche modo riassestare. L’epidemia del coronavirus ci ha spiegato questo concetto in modo netto venendoci a bussare alla porta: dobbiamo trovare una via che porti ad una forma di equilibrio tra uomo e natura e ad un trade-off delle necessità di entrambi.

Bioeconomy day, a day entirely dedicated to the Bioeconomy and Circular Economy, organized by the National Technology Cluster "SPRING". The Liguria region also participated with its own event, organized by TICASS (Innovative Technologies for Environmental Control and Sustainable Development), University of Genoa and INSTM (National Institute for Materials Science and Technology). Numerous regional European projects such as Bioplastic Europe, Prismamed and FORCE PROJECT were presented during the conference.

Bioeconomy day, una giornata dedicata interamente alla Bioeconomia e all’Economia Circolare, organizzata dal Cluster Tecnologico Nazionale “SPRING”. Anche la regione Liguria ha partecipato a questa giornata con un suo evento, organizzato da TICASS (Tecnologie Innovative per il Controllo Ambientale e lo Sviluppo Sostenibile), Università degli Studi di Genova e INSTM (Istituto Nazionale per la Scienza e la Tecnologia dei Materiali).

Promoted by the Foundation for Sustainable Development - in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan and the Polytechnic of Milan - Tuesday, July 16, in Milan from 9.30 to 18.30, at the headquarters of the Politecnico di Milano (Piazza Leonardo Da Vinci 32), will take place the 2nd National Green City Conference. On this occasion the Milan Declaration for climate adaptation in the cities will be presented.
